How to Play Roulette

First, bets are placed on the roulette table by clicking on the desired chip amount and then on a specific number or on range of numbers (small or big, where small are in the range of 1 to 18 and big in the range of 19 to 36), on the number color (red or black), on the size of the number, whether it is small or big, and whether the number will be even or odd.

After all bets are placed you press the “spin” button and the ball is launched in the spinning wheel. When the ball settles on a numbered slot, bets are won or lost depending on whether the player succeeded in guessing his bet. If you want to bet immediately with the same bet you just press “rebet”.

Roulette Bet Types

There are several bets in the roulette game:

  • Straight Up – betting is on single number.
  • Split Bet – bet is placed on the line that divides to numbers. If the ball falls in the slot with either of the numbers, the bet is won.
  • Street Bet – bet is placed on three numbers.
  • Corner Bet – bet is placed on the corner connecting four numbers on the roulette betting table.
  • Basket Bet – bet is placed on numbers 0, 1, 2 and 3.
  • Top Line – bet is placed on numbers 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3.
  • Double Street – bet is placed on six numbers (basically this is two street bets).
  • Red or Black.
  • Odd or Even.
  • 1-18 or 19-36.
  • Dozens – bet is placed on one of three groups made up of twelve numbers.
  • Columns – bet is placed on twelve numbers in a column.

Roulette variations

The most popular two variations are American and European roulette. The American roulette wheel is numbered from 1 to 36, but with single zero and double zero slots that are colored green, while the European roulette has only single zero slot colored green. The edge that the American roulette provides the house with is 5.26% while the European 2.7%. The American roulette has extra Top Line bet on five numbers, while the European has extra call bets. There is also a French roulette which is essentially a European roulette, but offers more betting options. And there is the multi-ball roulette played with three balls and is based on the rules of the European roulette. There is also no zero roulette.
